Our Story

Zero Strays Miri's story started with a puppy named QQ, who was found at Strawberry Hill by Xiao Ling. At the time, QQ was suffering from a lot of pain because his genital area had been injured, possibly by his siblings who mistook it for their mother's nipples. The injury was so bad that QQ was unable to pee, and the untreated wound gave him so much pain that he was constantly crying and whining.

Xiao Ling, being an animal lover and a kind hearted woman, felt terribly sad to see QQ in such a horrid condition. She immediately took him to the vet to seek treatment. It turned out that the injury was indeed very severe, and QQ had to be medically aided to urinate.  This situation would continue until QQ was old enough for a penis-implant surgery.

Even though the surgery, and caring for QQ, was very costly, Xiao Ling did not give up. She adopted QQ as her pet, and gave him the best care that she could. She gathered a few friends and together, they came up with an idea to try and raise funds for his surgery through social media websites and the local paper. Many kind hearted people started sending in donations when they heard QQ's story.

To their surprise, the amount of donation collected exceeded what they asked for, and  right away, the group had a thought- to save more homeless animals. They want zero stray in Miri. With that goal in mind, they set out to form a non-profit organization for helping the strays and called it Zero Strays Miri. On the 18th of January, 2013, Zero Strays Miri becomes official.
